RECON signed an alliance with the organization She Is Foundation, to join as an ally of the Women Economic Forum -WEF- to be held in Cartagena, Colombia, on August 1,2 and 3, 2019.
The WEF is a forum focused on the economy of women, held for the first time in Latin America, and held annually in New Delhi, India, with the aim of pursuing initiatives for the economic advancement of women.
It is expected to have the participation of more than 800 women from Colombia and Latin America who will have the opportunity to interact during the three days of talks, debates, workshops and discussions on topics of interest in business, entrepreneurship, technology and innovation, with the purpose of empowering the participation of women in the world in all sectors of the economy.
Thanks to the alliance, RECON will participate in the WEF with a social entrepreneurship panel. In addition, Andrés Santamaría, director RECON, will join as speaker, and social enterprising women of our community will participate in this important event
Nadia Sánchez, president of She Is Foundation and promoter of the WEF said that RECON is one of the strongest and most important organizations in the area of social entrepreneurship in the region, "we will strengthen and show their experience to continue working for sustainable development focused on women.”
Andrés Santamaría, director RECON, said that “We have joined the WEF because our work is aligned with the fulfillment of the SDGs and we do it with a gender focus that allows us to reduce social inequality gaps and strengthen the participation of women in different scenarios, that´s why we believe in this type of space.”
“We have also identified that in social entrepreneurship the participation of women is 1: 1 in relation to that of men, unlike commercial entrepreneurship, where for every 2 men there is a woman”.
