Description of Social Entrepreneurship
We are a community-based organization that seeks social transformation, related to the reality of trans women. Our work focuses on guiding and accompanying rights enforceability processes.
We have the Trans Citizen Observatory, which accounts for the research, analysis and documentation processes of our realities.
What led you to create your Social Entrepreneurship?
Our organization was born because of the need to defend the rights of our Trans partners, because 15 years ago our sister Maria Paula Santamaría died due to hospital negligence, due to her gender identity.
How does your Social Entrepreneurship impact your community?
Our work affects decision-making spaces, which drives the mobilization of trans people in the region. The work developed is strengthened by the dialogue of knowledge and the empowerment for inclusion, which are substantial elements for building peace with a transvestite approach and perspective.
What do you dream of happening with your Social Entrepreneurship?
Santamaría Fundación dreams of a country where there is inclusion for trans women, greater opportunities for the development of our competences, respect for our trans identities, participation in decision-making spaces, guarantee of rights, a dignified life and an Integral Law Trans. All this, as fundamental elements for a stable and lasting peace with a trans perspective.
