What does Makers of Dreams do?
Makers of Dreams is a complementary educational proposal vis a vis traditional education, which has the purpose of empowering children and youth of vulnerable communities in their capacity to dream, create and transform through leadership and entrepreneurship. The point is developing creative coherence, fine-tuning emotions, thoughts and actions to stimulate the gift of service and the need to leave a mark.
Its objective is to develop socio-economic abilities of resiliency, self-esteem and sustained effort of youth related to leadership and enterprising spirit. Through experiential spaces there is a strengthening and empowerment of youth to banish a mentality of poverty, dependency and low participation in the transformation of the community. The youth appropriate their territory and through their passions and talents design ideas and execute innovative and creative projects to solve the problems in their environment.
How has RECON supported Makers of Dreams?
It was one of the 18 finalists of the RECON 2017 contest, and thus obtained participation in two training courses: The first was in Value Transformation with the Dalai Lama Center of MIT, the second was for the strengthening of the social business model, training which was in charge of Impact Hub, Athena and RECON.
Furthermore, it has been seen on the RECON platform and other media such as El Tiempo, amongst others.
