What does Get up and Go Colombia do?
Get Up and Go Colombia is an NGO which promotes tourism in regions affected by armed conflict and via activities and projects with bilingual university youth, youth victims of armed
conflict, youth belonging to the LGBTI community and former combatants of armed groups, building peace, inclusion and diversity through tourism and languages. Its purpose is to give
former combatants a second chance so that they can become bilingual guides in the same regions where armed conflicts left their mark, changing the bad reputation of these places for stories
which allow for the creation of a new Colombian history.
How does Get up and Go Colombia generate an impact?
It promotes and positions Popayán and el Cauca in Colombia and the world, as a cultural, gastronomical and colonial destination, where history, dance, poetry and art, allow for dreaming,
believing and creating opportunities for change. Its purpose is transmitting and changing the way in which visitors see the city, showing why Popayán is much more than a white-painted city and
why el Cauca is an incredible destination in the south-west of Colombia.
