Female Entrepreneurship Cupainatá

Zapatoca - Santander

Description of Social Entrepreneurship

We are a team of 9 rural women residents of Zapatoca who are committed to environmental sustainability, we offer natural products, 100% organic. We love nature especially aromatic and medicinal plants. We want to make our passion a community entrepreneurship, productive and that contributes to the health of people and the earth.

What led you to create your Social Entrepreneurship?

“Cupainatá” is a Guane word that means Tillage of Heaven or Tillage of the Father, so this name was chosen to connect with the strength and intention of our ancestors and good energy when it comes to growing aromatic and medicinal plants. I am a therapist and I love nature forever, so this venture was the way I found to unite my love: health and the earth. On the other hand, as a woman I feel the need to contribute towards the reunion of the essence and feminine power, as well as how to value our contributions at all levels: family, social, political, economic, etc. In order to co-create among all, men and women, a more just and equitable world.

How does your Social Entrepreneurship impact your community?

Through the contribution to mediate with the following needs:

  • Empowerment of rural women:
  • Re-valorization of medicinal use of plants and traditional medicine
  • Recognition to the guardians of traditional wisdom in the use of aromatic and medicinal plants.
  • Promote sustainable agriculture
  • Application of science and technologies of support for production.
  • Contribute to the improvement of the quality of life of the participating rural families.
  • Contribution to environmental conservation.
  • Support the environmental protection objectives of the Serranía de los Yariguíes National Natural Park.

What do you dream of happening with your Social Entrepreneurship?

I dream of the moment when I cease to be an enterprise to be a sustainable social enterprise, that is, that it generates economic resources for all the participating women, that involves more and more families and replicates new ventures and the most important thing are organic crops and Friendly to the planet.
