Description of Social Entrepreneurship
At Adomi Foundation we work so that young people with limited resources get out of poverty through access to higher education. We offer a Free Pre-University course (which includes sex education and financial education); and to the students with better grades we sponsor the complete university career, with the commitment that when they graduate and work they sponsor in turn two more students.
We finance ourselves by selling the service of academic reinforcement classes at home to people of high levels, thus giving the opportunity of a first job to young university students.
What led you to create your Social Entrepreneurship?
A personal experience, in my life I had two options, go to the army or the guerrillas, but the desire to get ahead and the desire to study put in my way people who impelled me to achieve it, people with whom I promised to give back what they did for me.
How does your Social Entrepreneurship impact your community?
In ADOMI the mission is to sponsor the higher education of low-income youth, for this we do three things:
We offer a Free Pre-University course, with which the most needy young people prepare to be admitted to the public university;
We grant a full university degree to the students with the best qualification (each intern assumes the legal commitment of, when graduating and working, scholarship for two more students);
Damo paid work to university students of last semesters (they are the ones who teach the classes at home).
What do you dream of happening with your Social Entrepreneurship?
Our dream is to replicate the Free Pre-University course to the main cities of Colombia, especially those most oppressed by poverty and lack of opportunities. We know that with our methodology young people can easily access the public university.
